Cartagena Airport Drug Trafficking Arrest

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Cartagena, Colombia, after attempting to board a flight to Amsterdam with a wig that concealed more than 10 capsules of cocaine. Authorities captured him at Rafael Núñez International Airport after detecting his suspicious behavior during passenger profiling controls conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Police.

According to reports from El Tiempo, the individual underwent a pre-boarding inspection, during which it was discovered that he had at least 19 capsules containing a powdery substance attached under his wig. Detection tests confirmed it was cocaine. The man's goal was to transport the drug to the Netherlands, where its sale would have represented a profit of more than 10,000 euros for drug trafficking networks.

Initial investigations revealed that the detainee had a history of drug trafficking, with at least two judicial files related to this crime. After his arrest, authorities placed him at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office in Colombia, which will charge him with trafficking, manufacturing, and possession of psychoactive substances.

In this regard, Brigadier General Peña Araque expressed: 'We are delivering decisive blows against these criminal structures that not only compete for local drug trafficking but also generate various violent incidents and other types of crimes that disrupt tranquility and coexistence.' Authorities in Cartagena called on the community to collaborate with any information related to suspicious activities linked to drug trafficking.
